I recently just finished this great book which has some great ties to everything happening today. After the death of a Supreme Court Justice judge Jason Simpson is appointed to fill the position. When appointed many think he will go with the party he is associated with, but what many do not expect is for him to go with what is right. This excellent story is well written and truly gets you thinking. You feel empowered after reading it and truly want to make change in the world. With many ties to the current political situation, this story is a welcomed opportunity for you to recharge your mindset.

From the beginning, you are thrown into the chaos as Vicki Smith fumbles through the declaration of death of Supreme Court Justice Margaret Egley. While reading, I kept thinking, “Is this a bit too over the top?” Even when you visit her later in the book, the character’s ability is questioned. However, considering the current state of affairs in our world, I can see it happening. It sometimes took me out of the story, but those scenes were limited, so it did not totally check out of the narrative.

As a reader, you then feel the calm when you enter Judge Jason Simpsons court. Within the first few lines of the introduction, you feel as if you are transported into court, where all business is at hand. He exudes confidence with some Southern charm.

I really loved the clear picture of Jason that you get after his initial meeting with the President. You come to know him not only as a judge but also as a person. You see that he believes in the law, although there is still a bit of mystery surrounding him. The clear message is that the influence of politics and law are different, even though many try to bring them together. It keeps the reader on their toes, wanting to know more about this man and what he is truly capable of. I honestly got chills when reading his inner monologue after being confirmed to the Supreme Court and feeling ready to make a change, even if it goes against the norm.

One of the best parts of the story is the working relationship between Supreme Court Judge Jason and Grace. As you read, you almost feel like you are the character of Grace. You start to see the holes in the system and want change to occur. It is as if he is passing the gavel of change to her and, in turn, to the reader.

I truly enjoyed this whole story. The writing kept you interested, and the plot continued to build throughout. After reading, you feel empowered. It gives you the strength to make a change. When reading, you find yourself saying, Yes! or That is how it should be!
This part stayed with me long after I read it:
    Its not because the justices
suddenly saw the lightits because the world
    outside this building changed first.

It is a story that truly makes you look at the world a bit differently but also inspires you to make it better. You read each dissent, and though they were written with necessity, they offer comfort and empower the reader. Well done, and I cannot wait to go back and read your other works.
